FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR TO RONALD REAGAN: “For Ronald Reagan – David Broder joins me in sending you this exercise in ‘Reagan-watching.’ With the good wishes of Stephen Hess. Cambridge, Mass. 24 Sept. 1967.” Hess was a special assistant to the White House under Eisenhower from 1959-1961, and advised the Republican National Committee during that time. Broder was a journalist for The Washington Post, and reported on every presidential campaign from the 1956 Eisenhower-Stevenson race to the 2008 election. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1973 for his commentary.
