The present lot is a wonderfully balanced model depicting Leda and the Swan, a story from Greek mythology in which the god Zeus in the form of a swan seduces Leda. In addition to the present lot, only one example of this subject is extent, sold at Christie's, London, 6 March 2014, lot 150 (£194,500).
