Lot Essay

French designer Hervé van der Straeten’s (1965) extensive use of worked metal links to his father’s career as an engineer. His striking designs in furniture, lighting, mirrors and jewelry are often showcased abroad by galleries and international fairs. Additionally he has designed the J'adore Dior bottle, Guerlain’s lipstick Kiss Kiss, and the ‘Excess Series’ for St. Louis fine glassware. Van der Steaten was awarded the prestigious title of Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2013.
