Château Margaux 1961
Margaux, 1er cru classé
Embossed Château capsules, three corroded. Bin-soiled and damaged labels, three John Harvey slip-labels and one Barton & Guestier. Levels three top, two upper and one mid-shoulder
Tasting note: Another splendid ’61. Indeed, 5 stars appear with monotonous regularity in over 30 notes. Two recent notes, first, a less than perfect, yet delicious, magnum, ‘slightly depraved’ flavour, fragrant but fading. A month later, in bottle, level upper shoulder, excellent, very long, cork. Colour ‘warm tiles’, sweet, fragrant, glorious bouquet; very sweet, delicious flavour, perfect tannin and acidity. Last tasted Nov 2006. At best ***** M.B.
