Lot Essay

An identical plate is illustrated by Hervouët and Bruneau, La Porcelaine des Compagnies des Indes à Décor Occidental, Paris, 1986, p. 161, fig. 7.58, where the authors inform us that the same design is used on a Rouen faience plate in the Ceramics Museum in Sèvres bearing the arms of Bernard d'Avernes.
