The group comprises: a gilt-couched First Civil rank Crane rear badge; a pair of embroidered Second Civil Rank Golden Pheasant badges; two gilt-couched Third Civil Rank Peacock rear badges; a counted stitch Fourth Civil Rank Goose front badge; a gilt-couched and embroidered Sixth Civil Rank Egret front badge; a summer gauze Sixth Civil Rank Egret rear badge; a kesi Eighth Civil Rank Quail back badge; a floral Eight Buddhist Emblems roundel; a blue-ground Kuixing scholar's panel; and a blue-ground gilt-couched dragon roundel.
Provenance
The kesi quail badge: by repute, gifted by the late Qing diplomat Li Hongzhang (1823-1901) to French consular staff in China.
