Lot Essay

This sculpture represents a detail from the larger bronze group, composed of a winged angel supporting the figure of dead man, created by Pierre de Soete and dedicated to the aviators and balloonists who fell in the First World War. Unveiled in 1926, the original is now located on the avenue Franklin Roosevelt, Brussels, Belgium.
