Lot Essay

The present watch is an outstanding example of a reference 6036, impressing by its beautiful, original silvered dial, enhanced by the astoundingly sharp case. The gold marks underneath the lugs are crisp and the calendar correctors in the band seem hardly used. Furthermore, both the reference and serial numbers finely engraved between the lugs are clearly legible and proof of the beautiful life the watch has enjoyed for decades.

Treasures like the present example are amongst the rarest trophies in today’s market and appropriate for discerning collectors of extraordinary timepieces. Reference 6036, the third generation of the celebrated “Dato-Compax” or “Jean-Claude Killy” Oyster triple calendar chronograph model ever presented by Geneva’s “crowned” watch manufacturer, was available with various dial layouts cased in stainless steel, pink gold, and yellow gold.
