Lot Essay

In 1954, Patek Philippe obtained patent no. 298'564 for Photoelectric Energy, a horological mechanism deriving its motive power from a source of light by the means of at least one photoelectric cell. The present clock is a fine example of a period in time when the celebrated firm were able to innovate and create masterpiece clocks that relied on new and improved mechanisms.

To the best of our knowledge the present clock has never before been offered in public.
