Second edition of Leoni's English version, using the same plates as that of 1715-[1720]. The two editions form “a turning point in the history of British Palladianism,” marking not only the first complete English translation of I Quattro Libri but the first use of “worthwhile engraved copies of the original woodcuts” (RIBA).
4 parts in one volume, folio (455 x 282 mm). Engraved frontispiece, portrait and 230 engraved plates (most full-page, five double-page and a few in text) by R. Picart, M. Vander Gucht, J. Harris and T. Cole. (Very light browning and minor staining.) Modern calf antique. Fowler 224; Berlin Kat. 2598; ESTC T22366; RIBA 2392.
