Lot Essay

In ‘Like New’ condition, the timepiece features a rich brown dial and a 47 mm platinum case, matching the dimensions of the original Radiomir.

Considered by many Panerai collectors as the ‘grail of grails’, the PAM0021 features a platinum case and a movement made by Rolex. Going back to the Panerai’s produced from the 1930s to the 1950s, the timepiece was manufactured in a limited edition of only 60 pieces and represents a rare opportunity for collectors of the brand as very few are known to have come back to the market.

Panerai
Founded by Giovanni Panerai in 1860, the Florentine brand was first popular for supplying timepieces meeting the needs of the Regia Marina, the Royal Italian Navy.

In 1937, the first Radiomir watches were launched and featured a large cushion-shaped case with a width of 47 mm, wire loops, screw down crown, luminous and legible dials and hand-wound mechanisms supplied by Rolex. The bracelet was made of oiled and punched leather.

Throughout the years, watches manufactured by Panerai became highly popular and were subject to multiple technological improvements. To the delight of collectors of the brand, Panerai has stayed true to the philosophy of its founder and have kept their iconic design.
