A mid 19th Century China Trades gilt-lined mug
of tapering hexagonal form and with an applied dragon scroll handle, the six panels chased with battle scenes, birds, animals and flowers, one also with a small oval cartouche engraved: "14th. Meeting Canton Regatta Club Trial Race Decr. 1851", the underside engraved: "Trial Race Won By Mr H.H. Smith's Buffalo Gal pulled by E.N. Snow beating three others", struck with spurious 18th Century London hallmarks - 6in. (15.25cm.), 18.50oz.
