A PALE CELADON JADE ‘GUARDIANS OF THE FOUR DIRECTIONS’ BELT HOOK
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The belt hook is carved in high relief with a dragon-head terminal confronting ‘the Guardians of Four Directions’- the Dark Warrior in the form of a turtle perched on top of the Red Bird intertwined with the Blue Dragon, the other end carved with the face of the White
Tiger. The stone is of a pale greenish-white tone with concentrated areas of russet.
