PIZZORNO, Gervasio. Enchiridion exorcisticum compendiosissime continens diagnosim, prognosim, ac therapiam medicam et divinam affectionum magicarum. Lyons: Antonius Valançol, 1668.
8º (160 x 104mm). Woodcut device and ornaments. (Title tipped in and with small nicks at head, several leaves in quire A with lower margins torn away.) Contemporary flexible vellum, spine lettered and later relettered in manuscript. Provenance: Franciscan House, Virey-en-Perthois, 1713 (two inscriptions on title, one partly erased) – Chinese residence of the Jesuits (stamp on title) – A.V. Michel Ptre. (stamp on title) – Bibliothèque du Magnetisme (bookplate).
A RARE TREATISE ON EXORCISM, known but apparently not seen by Caillet. VD17 cites one issue with 5 preliminary leaves as here (one copy located), and another issue with 4 preliminaries (3 copies located); the publisher’s name is given as Anisson rather than Valançol. Only one sale recorded in online ABPC/RBH (2013). Caillet III, 8712.
