Details
Bouchard Père et Fils, La Romanée 1976
Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
In original wooden cases
1976*** Good for Red, **** Very Good for white
One of the earliest harvests in history. A small crop from a heat wave year with exceptional drought producing very concentrated musts with high tannin levels. Tough wines from the start which here and there never came around, a resemblance of 2003 is evident. Part of the grapes never reached phenolic ripeness, being harvested on their sugar level. Good wines made by conscious winemakers, as always it’s the best domains to look out for.
Recorked in 2006.
Tasting note: Deep ruby colour with some orange hints. Nose of forest floor, menthol and eucalyptus. Soft elegant mouth feel, smooth and lively. BPF
