Details
Bouchard Père et Fils, La Romanée 1997
Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
In original wooden cases
1997**** Very Good for Red, ***** Outstanding for white.
Fruit forward charming wines. A vintage which has presented pleasant and attractive red wines from day one. The whites were on the same high quality levels as the 1996’s but with more charm and seductive fruit masking the acidity.
After a wet and cool June and July very warm weather arrived in August, including the occasional rain. Its in September where the real difference in the growing season would occur compared to 1996, as from the first week high temperatures and sunny skies arrived staying on so everyone could finish the harvest at a leisurely pace. A classic high quality white wine harvest to cherish and enjoy for many years to come.
Tasting note: Garnet color, brown brick reflections. Very pinot nose, egg flan, caramel, orange peel, mocha. Fragrant mouth, fine balance, suave, silky. Beautiful bottle. BPF.
