Dedicated to Zhiyi (Wang Ze-I, 1920-?)
NOTE:
The recipient of this painting is Wang Ze-I. Born in Shanghai, he received his PhD degree in fine arts in Japan, and became a photojournalist. Wang was the founder and president of the Diario Chines para a Brasil (Brazil Chinese Daily Newspaper) for 26 years. He knew Zhang Daqian for almost 40 years, and helped the artist arrange for the remounting of his paintings and the setup of his exhibitions in Japan. He published Photography Collection of the Deserted Eight Virtue Garden of Zhang Daqian’s, and My Friend Zhang Daqian.
