Lot Essay
Launched in 2006, reference 5960 was Patek Philippe's first self-winding chronograph with an annual calendar and the in-house calibre CH 28-520 IRM QA 24H. It was first launched in platinum with grey dial in 2006 and since also become available in pink gold and with various dial colors. Made in steel, the present watch was manufactured in 2014 and is the last produced reference 5960.
The original owner of this watch removed the detachable bracelet (which is still included with this lot) and added a custom Patek Philippe strap giving this Ref. 5960/1A a completely new and fresh presentation of this highly desirable reference. The strap with its red stitching compliments the dial nicely. Dubbed the Patek Philippe "Paul Newman" dial of the modern era, this 5960/1A will be a collectible now and for decades to follow
To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public. For an example in platinum, please see Lot 97 in this sale.
