Lot Essay

The Wittnauer Professional Chronograph reference 242T is a historically-important and uncommon watch. This watch competed against the Omega Speedmaster and Rolex Daytona to become flight-qualified for NASA missions. The dial is very Space Age in appearance. It features an outer decimal scale, large luminous plots, and a lollipop seconds hand. Inside is the legendary Valjoux 72 chronograph, which was also used by Rolex. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a Wittnauer that was also destined for the American market with AXA stamped on the movement.
