A RARE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A WORLDLY PROTECTOR ON HORSEBACK
18TH CENTURY
The bodhisattva is shown riding a horse, his right hand raised and his left held in front of his chest, both in karana mudra. He is dressed in a full suit of armor, including boots and a domed helmet, and he is equipped with a sheathed sword at his belt. The lotus base is sealed and gilt-decorated with a double-vajra.
