A CAFÉ-AU-LAIT-GROUND FAMILLE VERTE 'LOTUS POND' CUP AND SAUCER
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The cup and saucer each have a scalloped rim and are similarly decorated with scenes of a pond with fish swimming amongst leafy lotus flowers, all below a long-beaked bird. The interior of the cup is decorated with a lotus plant and four evenly-spaced insects. The exterior of the saucer is decorated with flower sprays. The base of the cup has an iron-red rabbit within an underglaze blue double circle.
The saucer, 5 in. (12.5 cm.) diam.
