A BRONZE RITUAL FOOD VESSEL, GUI
EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY (11TH-10TH CENTURY)
The sides are cast with vertical ribbing between an upper band of taotie on a leiwen ground, centred on each side by a high-relief animal mask, and a band of taotie dragons above the foot. The loop handles have horned feline masks and terminate in a vertical tab cast with stylized scrolls. There are areas of malachite encrustation to the dark greyish-green surface.
