A large-paper copy in original boards of the first edition of this seminal work in the history of the search for the Northwest Passage and the colonial struggle over New France. Dobbs was embroiled in a conflict with Christopher Middleton, whom he had sent on an expedition in pursuit of the passage. When the mission failed, Dobbs accused Middleton of colluding with the Hudson's Bay Company to hide its existence. At the end of the book, he includes a glossary of Inuit words.
