Quinta do Noval vintage 1966
Tasting note: Light red color, a bit deeper than the Warre 63 which was served alongside. Soft round taste, sweet with good length. Wonderful balance. Served blind by Dirk Niepoort after dinner at his house. The depth of taste, sweet dried fruit and lighter color made me go for a classic vintage from the sixties. 1966 appears sweeter than the 63. Very good wine. Last tasted February 2014. EV.

Quinta do Noval vintage 2000
Tasting note: More closed then the Silval 2000. Intense chocolate rich taste, well balanced. This is great port with good structure and byte on the finish. May 2017 at Alpina tasting. Later that year at the quinta. Reserved nose of dark chocolate and fine rich cherry fruit. Smooth taste start, nice spicy tone in luscious fruit. Very well defined and seductively styled structure. Good length. Somewhat sweeter Noval. July 2017. EV.

Quinta do Noval vintage 2003
Tasting note: At the Noval stand during Prowein 2017, liquorish, pure fresh and rounded. Quite rich and strong.
At the quinta in July. Expressive peppery nose, game and roasted meat, black berries and tobacco aromas. Nice intensity. Creamy medium sweet start of taste, well packed in structure. Intense but well-rounded with sheer balance. Still some reserve, this port will age well. It’s remarkable that you don’t really taste the hot season leading up to harvest. Last tasted July 2017. EV.

Quinta do Noval vintage 2007
No Nacional vintage 2007 bottled. The harvest from this plot is still in cask, in 2017, maybe for a later to be declared Nacional Colheita Port. Would be the first!! Deep nose of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, forest floor and charcoal. Strong start on the palate with lots of intensity and spices. A wine of strength all packed in rich ripe fruit. Powerhouse with nice liquorish aroma on the finish. Last tasted at the quinta in July 2017.EV.

Quinta do Noval vintage 2011
Local hail reduced the harvest, only at Noval, to 2400cs. Tasting note: First tasted in 2013, refined very wide mouth filling taste, silky smooth with good length. A very good Noval. In 2017 at the Prowein stand. Great balance and strength. Rounded sweet. A very good Noval. Bravo. Later that year at the quinta showing a lot of character. Fine smokey charcoal followed by dark chocolate and pepper aromas. Going into dormant stage now. Very silky smooth taste start, wow this is like velvet. Well balanced with great finesse. A fairly sweet Noval of very very good quality! Last tasted July 2017. EV.
