Provenance
The engraved initial E is that of Eisenhower for President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 43rd President of the United States, and his wife, First Lady Mamie Doud Eisenhower.

Lot Essay

In 1946 President Eisenhower was invited to deliver the commencement address to the 1946 graduating class of Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. The present lot was gifted to the President and First Lady in honor of the College's appreciation.
