Lot Essay

The six plates in this lot include plates a, d, h, i, j and k. At the time of his death in 1976 Albers had only completed signing part of Never Before, his final portfolio. Plates d, h, i and l remained unsigned and were numbered and lettered by the publisher for documentation purposes within the series.
