Lot Essay

This handsome example is in very good condition and pleasingly still has its original chevron-striped kilims at either end. A closely related example is illustrated by Jeff Boucher (Baluchi Woven Treasures, London, 1996, p 54, pl. 18), although the stylised dragon's heads within our border are better drawn and the Mina Khani field design better spaced.
