Lot Essay

The untraced maker's mark on the above piece closely resembles comtemporary French makers' marks, this suggesting that the teapot was made by one of the many Huguenot silversmiths who emigrated to London in the 18th Century. Alternatively it could have been made in France and subsequently hallmarked in London after importation.
