The Heuer “Orange Boy” Autavia reference 1163 with black dial was available with a tachymeter bezel such as the present watch or with the hour/minute variant.
The orange details on the dial such as hands, indexes and register are reminiscent of the orange used by Gulf Oil in its logo in the 1970s, consequently the model is also nicknamed the "Gulf".
The present example is distinguished by its tropical aspect featuring a brown-coloured dial, the orange indexes and hands faded to a light cream tint, the black bezel bleached to a metallic grey, rendering it a very unique and unusual appearance.
