Lot Essay

Former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis commissioned the first costume necklace from Kenneth Jay Lane, after a necklace Aristotle Onassis had given her. With her blessing, Kenneth put the 'Jackie' necklace into his collection and had various renditions made with simulated stone, faux coral and simulated turquoise. The necklace went on to be worn by Linda Evans of famed television soap opera Dynasty (1981-1989).
