oval box of green lacquer with dark tortoiseshell interior, the cover, sides and base overlaid with vertical gold stripes within pierced foliate and entrelac gold borders, the cover centred with an oval portrait miniature, on ivory, depicting a gentleman facing right in a gold-bordered red coat, frilled cravat, powdered hair en queue
