A FAMILLE VERTE AND GILT-DECORATED BOWL
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The deep bowl has lobed sides and is decorated on the exterior with four vertical panels enclosing a qilin and a phoenix, a horse and a phoenix, a qilin and a hawk, and a deer and a crane, each alternating with panels enclosing flowers and butterflies. The interior is decorated with a roundel enclosing two phoenixes amidst flowers and butterflies. The base is inscribed with an illegible mark in underglaze blue.
