Lot Essay

Représentatif d’un style fort individualisé, ce très beau couple peut être attribué à l’artiste identifié par D. Stokes et J. Hammer comme le Maître de l’autel Shango d’Owu (Stokes, D. et Hammer, J.S., "The Master of the Owu Shango Shrine", African Arts, Los Angeles, vol. 19, Issue 2, 1986, pp. 70-73). Selon William Fagg, ce maître sculpteur Yoruba aurait vécu dans la région d’Igbomina entre 1850 et 1925.
