Lot Essay

Consigned by a private collector the present single button chronograph is preserved in close to new overall condition. It is number 86 of the limited edition of only 100 examples in white gold made in 2008.

The Tank Chronographe Monopoussoir (French for single button) is one of Cartier's rarest modern chronographs. This larger reedition of the houses’ 1935 model impresses by its timeless design, combining vintage look and modern finish.

The single button chronograph is one of the most complex and sophisticated mechanisms available. Unlike the more common chronograph in which the functions are typically operated through two crowns in the band, the single button chronograph is fully operated through the crown.
