A RARE PAIR OF DOUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' BOWLS
KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
Each bowl is decorated to the exterior with two five-clawed dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls and two phoenix amongst scrolling clouds, all above rocks rising from cresting waves. The foot rims are encircled with a band of floral sprays with green and aubergine enamels.
6 in. (15.3 cm.) wide.
