A PAINTED ENAMEL 'FIGURAL' TEAPOT AND COVER

The teapot is fashioned with a phoenix-head spout and is decorated to one side with a quatrefoil panel enclosing a lady reading a book and a scholar in a garden, and to the other side with a lady and boy in a fenced garden, all on a yellow-enamelled ground of scrolling flowers between blue-enamelled scroll borders. The domed cover is similarly decorated and is surmounted by a lotus bud finial.
