Both panels are finely embroidered in muted tones on a cream ground, one depicts two cockerels in the foreground amongst peonies below two pairs of birds perched on a gnarled branch, and the other depicts two mandarin ducks, a pheasant, a kingfisher, and a further pair of birds.
