Lot Essay

This pair of ormolu-mounted vases designed in ‘goût grec’ style, closely relates to a design from the so-called Saxe-Teschen album, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (acc. num. 63.547.10) depicting works of art from the collection of Duke Albert of Saxe-Teschen (1738-1822) and his wife Archduchess Marie-Christine of Habsburg-Lorraine (1742-1798).
