FLEMING, Ian (1908-1964). The Man with the Golden Gun. London: Jonathan Cape, 1965.
First edition, the rare first issue, first state with a golden gun on the upper cover. Around 940 copies were produced with this binding before the costs of doing so became prohibitive. Fleming wrote The Man with the Golden Gun during the last stages of his illness, and could only work for about an hour at a time. This book was published posthumously. Gilbert A13a (1.1).
Octavo (187 x 123mm). (Small waterstain at top edge just visible in a few upper margins). Original black boards, gun design gilt on upper cover; pictorial dust-jacket after a design by Richard Chopping, corners clipped as usual (a few minor nicks and stains to jacket, one tiny tear in cloth at lower board).
