KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722
The flat, everted rim is decorated in iron-red with a ‘hundred bats’ border. The interior has thread-relief characters reading hong fu qi tian, which may be translated as “happiness as vast as heaven”.
6 7/8 in. (17.4 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Acquired from a member of the Suma Family, a descendant of a Japanese ambassador to China during the Taisho period (1912-1926)
