Krishna and the gopis
gouache heightened with gold, the blue-skinned Krishna stands on a lotus blossom under a tree holding a flute and attended by four gopis, a cow, calf and peacock stand in the foreground by stream, a hill and lake behind, black margin with white rules, applied red border, (very light rubbing and marking, slight retouching), possibly Nagaur, circa 1830 - 13 x 9¾in. (33 x 24.7cm.)
