Lot Essay

Princess Charlotte and Princess Luise von Meckenburg-Strelitz were daughters of Charles II, Grand Duke of Meckenburg-Strelitz and his first wife Princess Friederike von Hesse-Darmstadt. Princess Charlotte married Friedrich Herzog von Sachsen-Hildburghausen-Altenburg. A sister was Princess Friederike, whose third husband was Prince Ernst August, Duke of Cumberland the fifth son of King George III of Great Britain and Hanover. The couple become King and Queen of Hanover in 1837.
