Lot Essay

The lack of a back pillar and the forward position of the arms may indicate that the current figure was seated cross-legged with feet tucked under (as on Manchester 6135, J. Bourriau, Pharaohs and Mortals, Egyptian Art in the Middle Kingdom, cat. 43, p. 56), or in a scribal position.
