Lot Essay

The present watchmaking tool is preserved in good, fully functional overall condition.

It was made by the Swiss tool maker, Edouard Luthy-Hirt, and is used to determine the correct length of a newly made hairspring.

The hairspring to be produced is clamped on the movable pliers and brought into constant vibration with the original hairspring of the tool. By moving the clamping pliers, the vibration of the new spring can be adapted to the built-in hairspring.
