Lot Essay

The present watch is a superb example of one of Breguet’s exceedingly rare triple calendar chronograph wristwatches in stainless steel case as opposed to the better known gold version. To date, only a mere handful of this rare species have appeared in public.

Consigned by the family of the original owner the present example furthermore impresses by its beautiful, unmolested overall condition.

The layout of the dial and the solid and masculine case proportions of this fine chronograph echo the greatest watch designs of all times, notably Rolex’s “Dato Compax” and Patek Philippe’s references 1518 and 2499. Comparing it to its peers, it is inevitable though to immediately spot the more playful design of the dial, most notably the outer blue date ring. It is also noteworthy to underline that these exclusivities were made in much smaller quantities than their counterparts from Geneva.

Inspired by French avant-garde design, these triple calendar chronographs by the celebrated house of Breguet are a connoisseur's choice and rarities on the market.
