J.J. Confuron, Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2004
Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
Tasting note: As it almost always is, this is the class of the Confuron stable and it is also the ripest wine with its soaring nose of high-toned and very spicy black pinot fruit nuanced by tea, crushed herb and anise notes that highlight the wonderfully elegant, pure and sweet medium weight flavors that finish with a flourish of mocha, plum and more spice. There is a lovely subtlety to this wine that is all finesse but the length suggests that this may develop more power over time. By no means a great RSV but certainly a reasonable effort in the context of the vintage. 90p Burghound January 2007
