Jean Grivot, Richebourg 1995
Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
Tasting note: Moderate secondary character (though no sous-bois) is evident on the attractively spicy and beautifully complex nose. There is outstanding density to the powerful and palate coating middle weight plus flavors that exude a discreet minerality on the velvet-textured yet robust finale that is shaped by chewy and slightly rustic tannins. This is drinking as well as it's probably ever going to and it remains very '95 in style, which is to say there is fine concentration linked with still firm structure that renders it appealing but very much a creature of its vintage. I should further note that this should have no trouble holding for several more decades but even so it's never going to be a refined Riche. 92p Burghound November 2015
