A rare early variant of this splendid map of Plymouth Sound, with detailed charting of the southern coasts of Devon and Cornwall. Koeman notes only the variant with Gerard Hulst van Keulen's (1733-1801) name, but this copy uses his uncle's name 'met Previlegie' in the cartouche. See Koeman IV, 432.
Double-page engraved map, verso blank, large inset plan of the Salcombe Estuary from Kingsbridge to Bolt Head to the right of the page and a small inset of Saltash next to title cartouche, rhumb lines, 3 compass roses, 515 x 595mm (plate mark), 549 x 617mm (sheet).
