SIGNED by Charles CONRAD, Joe KERWIN, Paul WEITZ, Alan BEAN, Owen GARRIOTT, Jack LOUSMA, Jerry CARR, Ed GIBSON, and Bill POGUE. Skylab was the United States’ first manned Earth orbiting space station. The program utilized a Saturn rocket S-IVB stage, with scientific and crew support equipment placed inside the empty fuel tanks, put into orbit by the first two stages of a Saturn V rocket. The crews traveled to Skylab via modified long duration CSMs launched by Saturn IB rockets. Each of the three crews made consecutively longer record breaking flights of 28, 59, and 84 days.
