A PAIR OF GRISAILLE-DECORATED AND CARVED RECTANGULAR PORCELAIN FRAMED PLAQUES
20TH CENTURY, INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY YU FEI’AN AND ZHU YOULIN
One plaque has two seals reading Yu Zhao and Youlin ke and the other has three seals reading Feichang hua and Youlin ke. Zhu Youlin, a renowned master of porcelain carving during the first half of the twentieth century, firstly worked in the Imperial Workshop and rose to fame in Beijing after 1911. He won a number of prizes and collaborated with some masters of traditional Chinese painting, including Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) and Yu Fei’an (1888-1959).
